DemoDAIRY Foundation Powell Legacy scholarship recipient Olivia Whiting has been venturing into new territory as she pursues a career in agriculture.
In 2026, Olivia will move into the second year of her Bachelor of Agriculture at Charles Sturt University in Wagga Wagga, with plans for a graduate diploma after completing her degree.
This year her subjects included biology, chemistry and economics before moving to focus more on agricultural studies such as plant production and livestock production.
As part of the course, Olivia, who was raised on a dairy farm, completed her first placement on a sheep property, Glenample. “This experience was valuable to my understanding of a different agricultural industry. I was there for a week during the end of lamb marking and through their second round of lambing.”
Olivia remains thankful for the scholarship support. “Thank you to the board of DDF and the Powell family for this scholarship,” Olivia says. “The money is invaluable to me, in helping me study away from home.”
